Lee's Weiss Lake Crappie Fishing Report February 2009:
Dakota (above) and his family enjoyed a great day of fishing on Weiss Lake this month.
Although water temperature was still cold (only in the mid-40's), with the bright sunshine and warmer days fishing should pick up.Most of the fish are staging at the mouths of the creeks on the river ledge, waiting for temperatures to bump up a few degrees to start migrating into the creeks.

Weiss Lake Crappie Report, November 13, 2008
Lake Level: 560.38 FEET Sunday, November 16, 2008 Level is 3.62 feet below full pool of 564.00
With water temperatures dropping into the low 60's, fishing this week was still slow. Crappie are starting to migrate to the ledges and some are being caught in 12 - 14'. Best technique has been bouncing bottom with minnows. With only a couple good stringers being caught this week, most anglers are only getting 10-15 keepers. One of the key problems has been the high winds. With bites being so subtle, the wind is making it difficult to feel them. With the upcoming cold front later this week, fishing should improve with lower water temps.
Weiss Lake Fishing Report, November 2008
With low lake levels and water temperatures still in the mid 60's, crappie fishing has been somewhat slow on Weiss Lake.Although bait fish are abundant throughout creeks and rivers and stacked up in pockets, the crappie that usually wad up on the river channel breaks are just not there - yet.
The best bet for catching crappie right now is by concentrating on bridge pilings and deeper docks. The only problem is that with low water levels there are only a handful of docks holding fish. With recent rains, cooler temperatures coming in and water temperatures falling, fishing should pick up in the next week or so.
