In 2008, Field and Stream rated the town of Guntersville as one of the "Top 10 Fishing Towns in America". Lake Guntersville Fishing Reports November 2008:

Flipping and frog bites continue to be strong. Due to mild temperatures and stable water levels, matted grass is still present in many areas of the lake. From mid-lake in front of Waterfront to the Scottsboro bridge there are several isolated patches of grass that are holding large groups of fish. There's a good early morning top water bite on the edges of these areas on Pop-r's and Talon Buzzbaits.

Once the sun comes up, cover water with a frog in the thick mats to locate feeding fish. Once you locate bass, target the thicker grass with 1oz and 1-1/4oz ounce Talon Grass Jigs. Key colors are Watermelon/red, Watermelon Chartreuse, and Green Pumpkin. Once you get a bite, there are usually several fish in that concentrated area. Flip using braided line, 65 lb. or more, because you never know when you may flip into a big one!
